CAST LIST
I had to get a little creative to make everything work, but I am extremely excited by this cast. A few changes to note:

1.The nine dragons from Chinese folklore were all male originally, so I felt no qualms about rearranging the dragon genders with my casting. You will be playing your dragon as your gender.

2.I cut the character of The Fisherman. Grandmother Elder will be handling the fishing duties in the show.

3.During Yai Tzu’s vision (a very cool movement section late in the script) the dragons demonstrate their plan to defeat the Wongsu. The Hunter is supposed to represent the Wongsu in this section, but since Nathanael will need to be entering immediately after this part as Suan Ni, Grandfather Elder will represent the Wongsu instead.

4.We will need to recruit a few people to play the Makai girls. They are smaller roles that could be learned easily with minimal rehearsal. This would be an excellent chance for some of our actors who are crazy-busy in the fall and can’t usually be part of one-act. Help me come up with some names. I hope these folks might be able to help us backstage with getting the dragons’ costumes adjusted. When the clawed gloves are on, you are going to need help.

5.I am hoping to do live drumming for parts of the show – mostly handled by Nathanael in his guise as The Hunter, perhaps with Hannah adding some Polynesian elements in the opening scene.

FIRST REHEARSAL: Tuesday, September 18, 6:00-8:00 PM.
